Local Rotary Clubs pay $295 per Student and the Rotary District matches $205 per Student

We accept students who are incoming high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. We do not accept incoming freshmen, students who have attended SFTL previously or seniors who graduated from high school before or in June 2026. Incoming Juniors and Seniors receive preference over Sophomores.

We have a male and a female adult Mentor for every 8-10 participants as well as additional staff, such as Facilitators, Camp Nurse, Program Manager and SFTL Chair. Every adult on staff has been cleared through a Criminal Background Checks and attended Youth Protection Training.

There are separate dormitory floors for boys and girls with adult supervision. There are also adult chaperones every night in the common spaces of each dorm. Usually, there are two participants in each room and adults and participants are NEVER paired together. Adults do NOT share bathrooms with students. No exceptions.

No, your student will NOT need money while attending SFTL. We will not be leaving campus. Frankly, there simply isn’t time for off-campus activities.

Due to the state-wide scope of our academy, SFTL does not provide transportation. We encourage the sponsoring Rotary club to work with each participant’s family to assure that the student has a ride to and from the academy. Most students’ families prefer to handle all the transportation themselves. If there is a transportation concern, the students’ family is encouraged to contact the Rotary club directly.

Students will receive four SFTL T-shirts (four different colors); colors to be included in an email before SFTL. Otherwise prepare comfortable clothes to coordinate with T-shirts, for hot days and outside walking. See Rules and Guidelines below about inappropriate attire.
